Launch Update

Five days have passed since my official launch of BORN TO BE A DRAGON (available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble in both paperback and ebook format). I can only describe the feelings I’ve gone through as a roller coaster, much like I explained on the last day’s post on Heather McCorkle’s blog. Only now, I’m on the other side of the ride. Sure, I’m still in the park, but now I’ve found myself looking around at all the other rides, wondering which to get on next.

There are lots of opportunities out there, looming over the horizon, looking like a pretty awesome ride. But which is right? And furthermore, which won’t make me puke from all the excitement? Heh.

I’m scheduled to go to World Fantasy Convention in San Diego in October and I’m hoping to have Dragons Forever Book Two done in time to at least have something to carry with me. I’m not sure I want to pitch it there, I may pitch my YA Rings of Time to a few agents, because I feel very protective of Deglan and  Meia. Like maybe I don’t want them in the hands of another person. Silly eh?

It’s okay, you can call that silly.

Shadowed from the limelight are the other projects I’ve been working on. Ones that want my attention but I’m just not willing to sacrifice the time yet. I want to get through Book Two so that it can sit and marinate (always a must) and then get it out to the beta readers. The new book is already hopping and one “fangirl” whom I’ve told the details is pretty excited about the adventure Meia and Deglan will take THIS go around. Which, of course, got me all excited to get the book done and in her hands so that I can get good kid reactions. Cuzz I rely pretty heavily on kid reactions as well as adult ones.

In a week or so, I may just have a snip preview of Book Two…

Pure Randomness: Today on Facebook a fellow homeschooling mom posted this for me…

A quote from [her son]: “Mommy, you know how they make all the really good books into movies? When do you think they will make my new dragon book into a movie? I can’t wait!” ~ Talking about ‘Born to be a Dragon’

I am so thrilled for you! Great feedback from your readers, it must just fill you with glee! Plus, YOU feel great about your characters!

I don’t think its silly at all not to want your babies in the hands of another. I know exactly how you feel now! The control that self-publishing gives an author is exhilerating, especially after knowing how very little one has in the traditional publishing world.
