I’m not sure how it happens, but every time I paint a room I get paint on my toes. And not just a little paint either, but enough to fill a medium canvas. It’s like a law that Eisley must step in paint in order to have a complete room. It’s quite disturbing. Specially when I don’t realize I’ve stepped in it and plant my large size 11 feet right on space on the carpet I haven’t covered in plastic.
So yes, I’ve been painting. Two rooms actually. The basement (finally got paint! WOOOT!) and the boys room (that will be my niece’s room when she arrives– boys are in basement now). I am so over painting… over it. I don’t like doing it. In fact I think I hate it. I like the change it makes, but I don’t like the time it takes to do such a mundane task. When I’m painting with someone it’s a little easier… but how do you call up your friend and say, “Hey, I need to use you to hold a brush and talk?” Ha, I’m just not that type of person. I do have a friend who likes to paint. And I did invite her over yesterday to help with the niece room. She can wipe out a coat of paint in like 20 minutes (total room!). She was awesome. She couldn’t stay long but she was awesome. She got two coats of paint on the walls in less then an hour (we were covering dark blue and sky blue). And it took me four hours to do one coat in the basement. No, it’s not a huge basement. That is the comparison of just how much I suck at this.
But it’s done… Thank goodness.
And yes, my husbands niece is coming to live with us for a year (give or take, the situation will be reevaluated when needed). It’s a long story, but we are happy to have her with us! Well, we will be happy to have her with us. She arrives on an aeroplane on the 23rd of August.
Then we are turning around and heading out to California. Going to set up some author signings and events. Stay tuned for more info.
So, today, I’ve washed my toes so there are no more remnants of my last couple days. The carpet will remain… a humble reminder that I am human. But today, I shall write.
