BLINK OF A DRAGON, Book Two of the Dragons Forever series has had a successful launch! *confetti* and the announcement of the contest for BORN TO BE A DRAGON is gaining momentum! *more confetti* If you’ve missed the news about the Fan Fiction/Poetry Contest, be sure to check it out. It should be amazing and really encourage your young readers to be writers too! So with the release of Book Two and the beginning of 2012, I’ve been thinking about how this next year will look. I really wish I could see the future and tell you how it WILL look, but I can certainly tell you my plans. As...

**COMMENTS CLOSED at 8:02MST time. Minions assembling now**  The time is drawing near for the upcoming release of DRAGONS FOREVER. But I have a problem that I’d like your help with! See, the series will be named DRAGONS FOREVER… but the first book, needs a name! And not just any name… the name needs to appeal to fourth and fifth graders from the shelf of a library/book store.     Here is the cover: And here is the blurb: When the first ray of light peeks through the crack of a dragon’s shell, it brands a mark into the hatchling’s flesh. This mark guides each...

The Evolution of a MS…

Posted by on Feb 7, 2011 in Novels | 1 comment

The evolution of a manuscript (MS) can be a downright nasty process. Serious though. What starts out as an awesome beyond awesome idea can eventually turn into a great book… it’s the getting to the end that makes it a great book that is a bit nasty. Right now, I am struggling with The Rings of Time (YA Fantasy). The world is awesome, the characters are well developed… but something is missing. It’s like it evolved without a leg or something. And yes, that was me that created this graphic… She can write and has mad PhotoShop Skilz… Haha… Ahem… The robots in the enchanted picture moved quickly through the frame, their red eyes piercing through the page. One clutched the neck of a nearby human, who struggled to free himself. His...

Press the Panic button… quick!

Posted by on Jan 26, 2011 in Middle Grade, Novels | 0 comments

Maybe if you press it too, the world will stop and all will be well. *cue crickets* Yeah, right. So, have you ever had that moment when everything seems to be going way too fast (for goodness sake, how is it already almost February?!) and you need to hit the “Panic Button” so you can catch a breath? I’m in that mode right now. I’m trying to vamp up for the release of the first book in my DRAGONS FOREVER series and feeling a bit panicky. When I make a list of things I need to accomplish, everything is doable in my time frame (as long as I don’t have to rely on...

Contagious…

Posted by on Jan 25, 2011 in Life, Middle Grade, Nonfiction, Novels | 2 comments

No worries, I’m not talking infectious diseases here… nor the common cold virus. I’m talking about YOU. Ask yourself, “Am I contagious?” Now, ponder what exactly this could mean to you. To me, it means a lot more then one would think. To be contagious… well… is absolutely and completely awesome in this context! Recently, I was told that my attitude was contagious. This is one of the highest complements I could’ve received, but with it also comes a lot of responsibility. If you’re being happy and excited about something, it’s easy...
