I did a silly thing…

I started a new MS….

*ducks as a shoe flies by*

Yes, well before you throw more shoes, let me explain. RUNAWAY CHOICES is done and fermenting, like I said it was… I opened it up and @AChilldon promptly worked at the voice of “Good Friend” and told me to shut it! Well, she sorta did… but I was caught in the act.

*hangs head in shame*

I did shut it… and then I read a book or three… then I was tempted to open it again. Critiqued a MS for a peer… tempted again to open my own, but I didn’t.

Then @DeniseGSwank and I were both commenting how ODD it was to not be writing right now. We both finished our MS around the same day (give or take 48 hours?) and we are letting them ferment together… separately of course. So yes, we were commenting on the oddity of it all… and how we needed to be doing SOMETHING!

I thought about starting MP3… but it’s not time yet.

I thought about writing another UNSEEN CHRONICLE (oh its time for me to post another one huh? Whoops! Tomorrow possibly), but I knew that I need to figure out what I am doing with them as a whole before I dive there again.

With RUNAWAY CHOICES complete, I really have nothing else to write on. I have some fiction ideas and some non fictions ones too I could start… but nothing feels right.

Then I was driving, I am always driving when I think of the best ideas (IMHO), and BOOM this idea rocked my brain. I have been trying to come up with an idea for a boys series that would really get my boys into reading more. My oldest, the girl, has no problem devouring books. She has already read THE RINGS OF TIME and is desperately waiting for the editor to finish SECRETS OF MANDOR so she can find out “what happens next!”

I digress…(blame the ADD)… So I am driving and I have this great idea for a boys series! I can’t tell you the name yet, cuzz it’s a ÜBER SECRET! But I read the first 250 words to the boys and they laughed. DD10 laughed too, that is a good sign.

I started THIS one, because it only has to be 5000+ words to be a Children’s Book. So fun, So short, So fun!

And boy is it fun, I may have mentioned that already… but I think so.

So it’s a short side project and we will see how it goes. But I *hearts* it already.

Edited to add: I did #WIPFIRE it tonight… here is that line…. Note: this is from an 8yo boys perspective… ;)

Okay, maybe I don’t remember the exact day I was born, but I have enough pictures to prove I was there… and I was poked. Several times.

That sounds awesome! There definitely needs to be more books for boys (IMHO) Looking forward to hearing more =)

I agree with Anne. Having two nephews, there’s not enough books out there for boys. You’re so talented, can’t wait to see it!

Well, you know after #wipfire last night that I love it. Please continue with this MS…please! You are so right about getting boys into reading. Bravo and I hope you weren’t writing while driving, just thinking! ;)

I’m a little confused as to why you *wouldn’t* start a new book after finishing a draft. I always start a new one while the last one is “marinating”.

Anyways, congrats on the new project! :-)

I’m with you and @DeniseSwank…I finished (for the 100th time) my WIP about the same time you guys finished your first drafts. Mine’s in editors’ hands, though, so I can’t touch it. I feel a little lost, too. I do have much to write, though (books 2 and 3!), but much else to do for 1 to get it ready for publication.

Good for you on the boys’ books! I had thought of this over the years, but never had a good idea for them because I always wanted it to teach them a lesson…but then it would get to preachy and they wouldn’t like it anyway. LOL My boys loved reading when they were young. I blame their current dread on the schools, but I digress. Now I’m trying to get them back into it and it’s been an uphill battle.

Good luck with this! I know you’ll do great.
