The thing is… While these stories are based on actual events… they are fiction. In the first Chronicle (Ishmael) he clearly states that angels are only servants. But someone, who obviously doesn’t read my blog, took this part of the little story out in her mind and well, she has elevated the angels higher then I ever intended. Which bothers me.

Yes angels exist. Yes they are servants of the most high. Yes they have names. Yes they fight our UNSEEN battles. No they should not be worshiped. UNSEEN was intended to show how the servants are used for HIS glory and well… in a certain instance I feel like that fact was bypassed.

So, in so many words… UNSEEN is on hold until I get clear confirmation on what I need to do with it. To those whose stories I have written, it’s probably a little sad because you know they are powerful testimonies of God’s provision. I just can’t push this project until I know for certain HE wants me to.

Make sense? I hope so.

In any event, if I don’t make goals for the week, things aren’t going to go as well as they could. Turning older takes thought and consideration. If I don’t have it written down, I just might think too much about the fact I am almost old…er.

So, goals… Yes.

• Finish my UNSEEN CHRONICLE on Good Friday events. Its a long one… I thought it would be a quick 2K story… now pushing 4 and I am not done yet. I am not sure why I didn’t expect that. We are talking major events here. I am just hoping to do it justice.
• Not think about the fact I am older… Must be on my list.
• Raise more support for Ethiopia (See that post here) because I need to turn in my first deposit on May 1st and this is totally something I feel like I need to do!
• Not think about the fact I turned in a partial and it’s on her desk now… :-0 Try to focus on something else… anything else.
• Switch up my kids book. I realized it’s missing… SOMETHING. Yah, Uber Secret here LOL YA is so hot right now you have to be else someone will snatch it up LOL
• Try to get DS7 into the doctor for allergies/asthma/RAD/RSV he struggles and he sounds like a seal today.
• Plant my garden… after the snow. Goodness, gotta love Colorado! Yes, it’s going to snow.
• Drink a lot of coffee.
• Read the third Percy Jackson book
• School with kiddos, I can’t believe it’s April already! Where did my year go?
• Make my own doctor appointment to find out what is up with the hip pain after running recently. (Old… old, old, old is going to be the answer… I am sure.)
• Not thinking about the emails I am NOT receiving regarding my partial
• And just generally have a great week…

Sounds like a good set of goals to me… and not terribly unobtainable.

I start week five of my running program (More like week seven or eight, but only on week five because I think the program is for super humans, not regular Joe average people like Debbie and I). I am loosely following the couch to 5K program from Coolrunning.com and listening to the podcasts by Robert Ullrey while I run… well I was, until this last week. The later you get in the weeks, the harder the program is… obviously. You are training for a 5K!

So, I decided to cheat a little… Okay, maybe it’s not cheating per say… but I didn’t listen to the podcast for day two and three of week four. Instead I watched a movie on my iPhone. Handy little thing that is.

The first day (which was actually the second, are you following along?), I watched UP. So.the.wrong.movie.to.watch.while.you.run…period. Don’t try it at home folks. It was so slow and not a running time movie. Really, instead of making me forget about the time, I just stared at it. Hahaha.

So day two (which was actually the third day of the run week, and last day), I had downloaded, quite by accident (I plugged my phone and synced it to another computer in my house), another movie. A certain teenage vampire movie I received for my birthday last year from a great friend. I had forgotten I had it on that computer and so when it was synced back up to retrieve my ringtones, it transferred over.

Now before you go into, “that movie was so lame, blah blah blah…” I am not asking you to watch it. To each their own.

That doesn’t change the fact it was now on my iPhone and I ran to it last night.

Believe it or not… watching the darn thing worked like a charm! I messed up with my run times… a little… cuzz I was too involved in Bella and Edward (haha) but boy the time passed like a charm! I even wanted to keep going so that I could watch longer. Crazy movie.

So when I consider week five in two days, I will definitely bring the sparkley teenage vampire movie… because it worked! I will try anything at this point to trick my body into not realizing its running or training for a 5K.

Writing update: Today I should finish RUNAWAY CHOICES. Then I will let it rest for a few weeks and jump into editing.

In the meantime, I will probably write another couple UNSEEN CHRONICLES or really dive in and plot book 3 Mandorian Prophecies. Haven’t quite figured it completely out yet.

No new news on any other nonfiction fronts. I queried an agent on Thursday… or was that Wednesday? But they are moving their offices this week, so I don’t expect to hear anything back for some time. No worries, I am not in a hurry. It’s God’s timing, not mine.

Off to complete a novel… and ponder a 5K.

UNSEEN CHRONICLES: Some of you have noticed there is a new tab above labeled such. I am posting those as Serial Fiction now… so you can read them anytime.

I have written eight chronicles based on true stories to total close to 30,000 awesome words. Hehehe, hey, it’s my story… and yes I think it’s awesome!

I have six other story ideas which would probably bring my total up to novel length… But I think I am just going to continue posting them on here until I figure out what to do with them after they are all written. Because there really isn’t a genre for “Religious Paranormal True Stroies from an Unseen Speculative Perspective…” or maybe there is? Hummmm….

As always, if you have a story you want to share with me about the Unseen hands that helped you through a situation, let me know. It’s MUCH more fun to write for a person then a situation. Hard to explain but the three chronicles I have written recently have no personal attachment to myself and they don’t seem as exciting as the others. However, they are in the resting phase, so maybe when I read them again and edit them they will change enough that I can get super excited about them like the others. Maybe.

THE RINGS OF TIME: It’s still with Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest… I will know Thursday if I made the first cut. Their loss if I don’t. If I do… well, then I wait some more. This is a waiting game… till June. JUNE! Boy, what was I thinking? I am not the most patient of people, this is going to be a real growing time for me. (Book 1 of Mandorian Prophecies)

No querying for this yet, though the query is written and perfect (if I can be so bold Hahaha!). So if ABNA doesn’t pick it up, I can send it out to procure an agent.

THE SECRETS OF MANDOR: (Book 2) Is still being edited. I am about to give the editors email address out so he can be bugged by more then just me. Gosh, why does editing take so long? Oh yah, I know, it’s cuzz he is taking out all of my THATs.. and maybe a few JUSTs… okay and maybe one or two MOMENTS… but really. COME ON! Ahem… Yes, he is reading. *waves*

REDEMPTION: (Book 3) Title still in progress, but that’s what I am calling it… It will probably end up being a four name title like the other two… Who knows. But it’s being plotted. Well, sorta… not actively though. I write down notes here and there.

RUNAWAY CHOICES: Looking excellent… Around 52.5K words… Would be more like 53 but I had one of those nights that I hated everything I wrote and deleted it. Yes, I deleted it out of the WIP. I did save it, but its not part of this MS. I decided… errr rather my characters decided to go a different way… only AFTER I wrote the dang scene transition… I wish they would speak up MUCH earlier then they do. I mean really… 600+ words down the drain for what purpose? Still deciding.

NONFICTION STUFF: And yes, it’s stuff… plural. Hmm, what is the singular of stuff? Never mind, don’t answer that. Haha.

Umm so yah, I have some nonfiction ideas. I have actually thought about starting on a couple of them recently but haven’t stepped over that threshold yet… but I will Lord willing be stepping over soon. And maybe even sharing some exciting bits of news regarding this avenue. We will see… totally not in my hands right now.

KIDS FICTION: I also have this fantabulous idea for a boys series of books… But I have to flesh that one out with my boys And they aren’t willing participants yet… so really this shouldn’t be in the Writing Updates but more of the “Somewhere down the road when my boys are old enough to pay attention” category.

I wonder if that will ever happen…

I digress…

So, Ishmael has been posted for about twelve days and has gotten a few great comments. I just need to actually code the comments in (cuzz its not a wordpress document… the benefits of knowing HTML and some CGI/PHP.. and disadvatages since I have to do it myself) and I haven’t yet.

Last night, I posted Stephen, the story of a girl with Cerebral Palsy… from the Unseen perspective. If you know @achilldon on twitter, it’s her sister’s story.

As Anne can attest, I didn’t really write this story… I was only the human putting the words to the page. In other words, I ended up with details she had not shared with me… and that is chilling and awesome (If I can be that biased… Haha).

If you have been following my writing/editing/querying/going insane process, you will know one of two things… I am crazy… and I just spent three months perfecting my query. Okay maybe 2 months 29 days… but still.

You might also know that I submitted my novel, THE RINGS OF TIME, to the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest.

*please hold your applause till the end*

Yes, I do plan to win because it’s a good novel. At least I think so, and the thirty other beta readers that have read it.

Ahem, but how could I have shot myself in the foot. Well, let’s start with the negative side of this. My hands are now tied with a nice little red bow. I frankly like the bow and know it won’t be long until it will be part of a gift wrapping. Whether it be for Penguin books or another lucky publisher, I know my book will see the press. So while my hands are wrapped with (holding THE RINGS OF TIME) with a nice pretty bow… I can do nothing with the novel.

So… either I have inadvertently shot myself in the foot… or I did it on purpose and it’s a good thing. Which do you think?

Because the publishing industry is much like the Military, “Hurry up and wait…” I think it’s a good thing. My story isn’t pivotal to this moment in time. It’s timeless and in five month’s will be just as pertinent to the fantasy industry… In fact, it gives me more time to work on a synopsis, since I may need one eventually (what a pain in the patookis). It gives me more time to plot and actually began the third in the series… because two is being edited right now out of my hands. And it gives me more time to seek out that perfect agent… cuzz one is out there. A few I have my eyes on and they are such pleasant representatives of the field and they make me smile.

Though, in all actuality I think that THE RINGS OF TIME will win the contest and this won’t matter. No, not arrogant, just hopeful. I love my work… as I should. I know it will be published and that is not arrogance that is faith and believing in a dream.

If I win the contest, I think I will faint dead on the spot. Maybe even die… because there are up to 5,000 other entries from authors whose work probably is just as awesome as mine (note I didn’t say better… gotta keep it real.. HAHAHA!). But here is the dilemma, if I die… the third book won’t even see the light of day. So maybe I should get to work.

But I have goals… Gah! Finish Runaway Choices (My Urban ChickLit Fantasy), finish some more of the Unseen Chronicles (Which you can read as Serial Fiction at the top link under UNSEEN CHRONICLES oddly enough)… then and only then… am I released to write Mandorian Prophecies 3. Must have priorities.

So, what was the BANG we heard, if it wasn’t me shooting myself in the foot? Why it was the door of course… The door closed to the judging room for the contest and it has not begun.

Hurry up and wait… I am used to it.

I am a Christian and while this topic is near and dear to my heart, I will say that theologically these stories are just a work of fiction. Yes, I believe in the Unseen hands that help us through life. But this is just speculative.

I will mention that in more then one occasion when writing these stories, I have been told by the people the stories are about that I captured things they hadn’t told me. Coincidence? Nope, I don’t think so.

The first story is the one that started it all. The story of my nephew and his birth. If you have had a traumatic birth or experience in an ICU, I have been told you need to bring a tissue.

Actually, Claudia from The Denver Cereal is reinforcing this idea I have had about my Unseen Chronicles. And by golly, I think I am going to do it.

What exactly am I going to do…? I think I am going to do post my Unseen Chronicles as weekly chapters… err Chronicles.

Not only will it get the work out there and hopefully impact some people in ways they didn’t think they could be impacted, but it will spur me forward in my other novels. How exactly is that possible? I am not sure what do to with the Chronicles right now, which has been taking some of my energy away from the other projects I have going. So, to solve that — until someone is ready to pick the Chronicles up as a full novel (or novella) of short inspirational TRUE stories written from the speculative fiction standpoint –I think I am going to start posting them.

What a freeing announcement… and a little scary too. But mostly just freeing.

It’s sitting on the editors desk (computer) right now and he has edited about 1/4th of it, then had to head off to the “Real World” (read that as his j-o-b). He will have it done tonight, then I will read through it another couple times, maybe adding in a few thoughts that I might have missed the first two passes.

Then comes the real test… send it to the gal whose story it’s based on. Yes, they are losely based on true stories. Basically, a story is shared with me and I fictionalize it with what I think might have happened behind the scenes of the Unseen character. It’s quite fun and the words seem to flow well.

But I am struggling with them all sounding the same… “Bad things happen, good hands help, there is a fight, hooray it’s all good!”

Which is why Dante is a bit different. Trying to keep them different enough that people won’t think, “Didn’t I just read this?”

So far I have:

Ishmael – Little William’s story of his birth and the twenty-four hours following when he almost died… many times.

Stephen – Jessa’s story of her battle with Cerebral Palsy/Epilepsy and an instance where she did flat line.

Asher – The story of Paul and Silas in prison.

Zahalon –  Hannah;s story of having a vision she had just previous to her father’s death, helping her through the death of a parent

Dante – Jennifer’s story of how she is always being guided and protected through the various situations of her life. Including one that could have ended her life.

Yes, that is 5… equaling about 22,000 words or so.

The real question is, now what? When do I stop writing these stories and market this? Or do I market it? Is this meant for me just to share and get them out there? I haven’t ruled out that possibility either, because they are inspirational and have moved many people already.

No idea… really. None.

I don’t even know what to call this “inspirational, based on true stories from an unseen perspective” type of novel in the genre sense. Has it ever been done? I don’t think so. Do I have a niche? No idea on that either. Maybe if I share a story or two, maybe someone can shed some light upon where to go with this next.

I asked a fellow inspirational (published) writer what she thought and she had no clue. Welcome to my world…

If you need me today, I will be sketching an Unseen being… Because right now the angel above that I am using is a “lifted” copy from the net. Can’t publish that unless I find the original sketcher… and I have tried! It was just in someone’s directory a year ago and well, if you know who drew it, let me know! I would like to give them proper credit.
